I know it's the best compact photo printer, or independent of the printer or the printer in a person which is cheap, to ink and print better photos.
I have the Kodak 5300 printer in the Printers and sucks and that the software that came with it sucks.

I had very good results with HP 7300-series. Beautiful pictures, direct-memory-card reader and colors at a reasonable price.
Your question is very broad and covers three different types of printers.
1. Compact printer. I guess that means that 6x4 prints created. I have an Epson Picture Mate, you can print directly from cards. Canon have an excellent selection.
2. All in one printer. I have an Epson RX500, which, scans and copies backup 10x8 excellent photos. Even sending faxes, you could do with broadband! The advantage is that you can get a range of compatible inks, many manufacturers very easily.
3. Vector printer. I've always Epson. The fees are also excellent. After reading endless comments I did not touch on any of the other manufacturers.
All in one printers are best for those who have no place to scanners, printers, fax machines, etc. Most Merge programs are not as good, as the different instruments. Photo printer for printing photos in an efficient manner and not for normal printing work. Decide what you use to access the printer and go into a store to a test page for this printer model to print. This way you can find what you want.
